What is A-F Betafood?

A-F Betafood is a beet supplement containing the complex nutritional benefit of both the beet leaf and the beet root. Multiple bioactive compounds in beet root are under review for possible health benefits,1 as are the phytochemicals in beet leaves.2 Naturally occurring betaine in beet roots and leaves supplies cellular factors used in the processing of homocysteine to methionine, as well as support for normal fluid balance in cells.3 The minerals and vitamins present in beets work together with other ingredients in A-F Betafood to promote healthy liver metabolism and cellular function.*

How does A-F Betafood help maintain healthy liver function?

Beets have been studied for their potential to promote healthy liver function. For example, in mice fed a high-cholesterol/high-fat diet, supplementing with freeze-dried red beet leaf resulted in healthier fat profiles (reduced lipid peroxidation) in blood and major organs, including the liver.4 Beet root supplementation has been considered for its potential to reduce various means of oxidative stress.5*

What ingredients support healthy metabolic function?

Iodine is required to produce the two hormones in the thyroid gland responsible for regulating the body’s rate of metabolism, reproductive functions, and growth and development.6 The metabolism of carbohydrates and fats to produce energy requires numerous magnesium-dependent chemical reactions.7 Magnesium is also required by proteins that synthesize adenosine triphosphate (ATP), the molecule that provides energy for almost all metabolic processes.8*

How does this product support overall health?

Vitamin A supports healthy cellular growth and helps the body maintain healthy mucous membranes.9 Vitamin B6 supports the formation and function of red blood cells.10 Essential fatty acids (EFAs), like those found in flaxseed oil and sunflower lecithin, support cell structure.11*

This product contains less than 20 parts per million per the suggested use listed on each product label.
